Gary Zitterich Elected to Hall of Fame
Gary Zitterich has been elected to the Huset Speedway Hall of Fame. Gary first started racing sprint cars in 1980 racing at such tracks as the old Hartford Speedway, Huset Speedway, Jackson Speedway, and a few other tracks in the upper Midwest. He picked up his first 410 Sprint Feature win at the old Sioux Empire Fairgrounds during the fair in 1985, later also winning two more features in the 410 sprint class in 1988 and again in 1991. In 1986, he perhaps had his best season in the 410 Sprint Car class when he placed third over all in the point standings. One of his accomplishments while competing in the 410 Sprints at Huset Speedway occurred in 1991 during a World of Outlaw event where he had to qualify for the A Feature by coming from the B Feature. In a side by side duel with legendary Steve Kinser for the lead, he ended up second in that race qualifying him for the A Feature event. Starting at the back of the field, he drove his way all the way to a seventh place finish just two positions behind Doug Wolfgang. Another accomplishment he made at Huset Speedway came that very same season in which he won feature events in both the 410 and 360 Sprint Car Features becoming the first to accomplish the feat at Huset Speedway. Gary Zitterich went on to win National Title’s in traveling the IMCA 360 Sprint Car Series in 1989 and 1998 while also competing in and winning the IMCA Super Nationals at Boone, Iowa in 1994.
Gary has collected over 30 Sprint Car Feature wins over his career that spans the years 1980-2005 collecting track titles at Huset Speedway and Hartford Speedway. Gary Zitterich will go into the Hall Of Fame at Huset Speedway at a Date to be determined.
